We at Rajani & Co., wish you and your loved ones a very happy Christmas and hope that the New Year brings us all some good cheer. It is the season of goodwill and as our last email for the year, we come bearing gifts from the Government which might be worth pursuing for your business. These are:

The Local Restrictions Support Grant

The local restrictions support grant (LRSG (open)) supports businesses that have not had to close, but which have been severely impacted due to local Tier 2 or Tier 3 restrictions. Local Councils have the freedom to determine the precise eligibility criteria for their own localities.  Check if your business is eligible here and apply via your Local Council’s website, which you can find here.

The VAT Deferral Scheme

Many businesses took the opportunity to defer payment of their VAT due (the deferral VAT), between 20 March and 30 June 2020, to 31 March 2021. The Government is providing a further opportunity to spread the remaining deferral VAT over a maximum period of 11 months, interest free, the total amount to be paid by 31 March 2022. Please be aware that businesses will need to opt in when the online application process has opened in early 2021. The main criteria for the scheme are that you must opt in before 31 March 2021 and have paid the first instalment by then. Further details can be found here.

This year has certainly been a been a roller coaster ride for all of us and its time for a much needed rest, time to reflect, re-energise and plan ahead! And so our last day at work in 2020 will be Wednesday 23 December, returning Monday 4 January 2021.
